NCR Remote is my team's way of evolving the work from home movement during this pandemic. Unfortunately, many employees who are not used to working from home have been forced to do so, resulting in mass confusion and anxiety. This greatly affects job performance. In order to settle this uneasy feeling, we designed a system to shift the company culture and mindset to a more enjoyable experience by adopting a remote work situation as opposed to a work from home situation, which extends an invitation to employees to decrease their stress levels and increase productivity by bringing the structure of the office home.
Company cultures can be changed by combining two ideas: behavioral substitution and changes in visual cultural artifacts. We intend to change company culture by offering employees artifacts that remind them of their company to display in their at home workspace to remind them what they should be working on, and offering a set of personalized suggestions as to how they can subconsciously shift from a work from home mindset to a work from home mindset, which redefines what working from home actually means.
We started by interviewing 20 employees who have been forced to begin working from home, and put the average into the persona below.
